在圣诞夜，十个素不相识的人坐在同一辆巴士前往德克萨斯州。在路上一个偏僻的地方，巴士与一位骑摩托车的瘾君子相撞，然后发生了冲突。这个瘾君子的黑帮同伙对所有乘客开始使用武力，乘客们只好跑到一个被遗弃的院落中避难。他们临时准备好武器来对付这群丧心病狂之徒，但随着伤亡人数的增加，他们意识到要生存只能去做最不可能的事情——向歹徒发起进攻。

　　病床上，84岁的离休老干部林玉红弥留之际，念念不忘回到她魂牵梦萦的大漠古城。
　　为完成林妈妈遗愿，养女林水莲通过网络集结了四名具有考古、医疗救助、野外生存等专长的都市志愿者，一同奔赴西北茫茫大漠。
